In order to determine the rheological parameters of settling fluid mixtures and suspensions, a helical screw impeller with a draught tube of our own design has been constructed. Based on the concept of equivalent radius of the screw impeller, an improved numerical procedure for determining the consistency coefficient and the flow behaviour index using measurements of readily observed quantities (moment per unit length and angular velocity of impeller) is presented. The validity and applicability of the measuring system for determining rheological parameters of suspensions, specifically molasses containing suspended particles, was verified from the statistical point of view.
