Deforestation in the Amazon has decreased from 23.901 km2 in 2004-‐2005 to 6.348 km2 in 2009-‐2010 (INPE, 2012) suggesting that the region may be at a turning point (Davidson et al., 2012; Nepstad et al., 2011; Nepstad et al., 2009).
