The master’s degree for training secondary school teachers of English as a foreign language (EFL) and English as a second language (ESL) was launched in the Spanish university system during the 2009–2010 academic year in response to the new demands of the Education Organic Law 2/2006 of 3 May, which requires new teachers to take a course in pedagogical skills (Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, 2006). As lecturers in a master’s course aimed at training secondary school teachers of EFL and ESL at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), we present part of our teaching proposal for this course. Moreover, to add to the value of our students’ work, we share the film-based teaching plans that they developed to meet the requirements of the course in question.
