Descripción
In this work, the effect of the functionalization of Vulcan support on the electrocatalytic behavior of Pt/C nanocatalysts for the Ethanol Oxidation Reaction (EOR) has been studied. Vulcan was functionalized via a micro-wave promoted reaction using citric acid (CA) and methanol (MeOH) as chemical agents. Pt nanoparticles were dispersed on functionalized Vulcan using Intermittent Microwave Heating (IMH) polyol reduction method. Synthesized Pt/C catalysts were characterized by XRD and SEM-EDS. Cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry measurements were conducted to study the behavior of the nanocatalysts during the EOR. The results showed an increase in current density of the EOR and higher stability when functionalized Vulcan was used as support for Pt catalysts.
